Viking Wisdom

Here you will find useful information about how to prepare for the tour, how to tip and what to do in Stockholm Viking style... or not that viking!

Arriving to Stockholm

When you are arriving to the new city, transportation can be confusing. Here are main guidelines for commuting to/from airport and within the city:

If you are landing in ARLANDA there are 4 main ways how to get to the city.

* TAXI - as usual, they will try to rip you off so if you prefer to travel in car, order Uber. The price usually is around 65-75 Euros, while taxis outside of airport are know to take up to 20X the price.

* ARLANDA EXPRESS - the fastest way to get right into the city. With regular departures just 18 min to the central station. Check the website HERE

*PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - Cheapest way with two options. Bus and then Commuter train or just Commuter train by paying the airport tax. If you are staying in Stockholm for several days, consider to purchase the ticket for most of the days.

FREE VIKING WALKING TOUR is 100% donation based.

The Free Walking Tour concept promotes equity allowing everyone to experience any city, its history and related themes regardless of the available budget . FREE stands for "free to pay what you feel or can"

Stockholm is an expensive city and Free Walking Tours pay taxes (approximately 50%) and commissions to the booking platforms (often around 2€ per person). For us it is full time job and our salary is what YOU decide to pay. But how should you evaluate what we deserve?

Did you had an excellent tour with a kind, respectful, interesting and knowledgeable guide?

If you'd pay for a similar service, how much would it cost according to, for example, Tripadvisor?

Commonly 10€ is considered to be
lowest acceptable donation. 15€ - 20€ a decent tip for a good guide and if it was a special experience for you, higher amount or any alternative support will always be welcome and highly appreciated!

If you are economically struggling, fleeing from a war, oppression or violence, you are welcome to join our tour and you are not expected to make any sort of donation. We support those in need in any possible way!
OTHER QUESTIONS

Q: Should I book the tour?
A: Yes! In order to provide best experience there is a limitation to the size of the group and people without booking can be rejected to join the tour.

Q: Where is the meeting point?
A: We meet at Stortorget, Stockholm in old town right in front of Nobel Prize Museum by the water well. The tour guide is easy to be recognized, wearing viking clothes and carrying a shield. Make sure to add correct contact information if the tour must begin in different location due to event like protest or marathon for example.

Q: How can I tip?
A: We receive most of the common currencies including EUR, USD, GBP, SEK or alike. Yet we also have digital payment possibility so you can also pay with the card, including AMEX.

Q: How to dress appropriate for the tour?
A: Scandinavia is a land of four seasons where conditions can change day to day. Make sure you check the weather forecast before arrival to Sweden and on the day of the tour before leaving hotel. It can be scorching hot during summer months and freezing cold in winter. But even a sunny summer day can become a thunderstorm quickly, so be prepared!
