how to play

Each player will be assigned a role at random by picking one card. Their roles must be hidden from rest of the players. From now on, everyone is a Viking.

Game Master will explain each role to clarify any possible misunderstandings and answer all the questions.

The game begins with Game Master announcing the beginning of the Long Night and all Vikings will close their eyes.

Game master will announce that Jotunar open their eyes and players with the Jotun role will recognize each other. Together they are the team and they will try to protect each other during the trial and attempt to destroy all of the vikings during upcoming nights. Communicating with eyes they will pick a victim and after game master will confirm the chosen player, Jotunar will go back to sleep by closing their eyes.

Game master will announce one by one, each of the Gods to open their eyes and perform their special abilities. Some during the Long night only, others during each of the turns or triggered by situation.

After the Long Night is over, game master will announce the sunrise and the day will begin with the discovery of the gruesome menagerie - one of the Vikings has been torn into pieces. It is time to find the guilty one. Vikings will begin to search for the signs in each other. Is someone having itchy neck, or nervously tapping their fingers on the table, maybe shifting eyes or unsure grin will give away the beast.. but someone will have to pay.

As the vikings are getting ready to make a decision, on count of Game Master, everyone will point out at the Viking they think is guilty. The player with highest number of accusers will have a chance to make a defense and maybe change the mind of the tribe. If chosen to be eliminated, the players' card will be reveled and we will find out if it was a Jotun or terrible mistake has been made and innocent Dengr or even one of the Gods have met their end.

The day is over and the night will begin and everyone will close their eyes.

Under guidance of the Game Master, werewolves will wake up again and perform yet another killing. After they will return to sleep, Gods will perform their special abilities and so, night after night, the killings will continue. Day after day, Vikings will eliminate a suspect until all the werewolves are ruled out.. or all the Vikings have been eaten by the beasts.
